WV Stream and Wetland Valuation Metric

Utilizing results from habitat assessments and benthic assessments, Decota is experienced in calculating WV Stream and Wetland Valuation Metric (SWVM) credits for projects that are proposing to impact aquatic resources. Decota closely follows the WV IRT’s guidance when determining these compensatory mitigation requirements. WV SWVM can be used to determine mitigation credits needed to offset a project’s proposed impacts or to estimate the potential credits a proposed mitigation bank could generate. For project’s proposing impacts to aquatic resources, a contractor has the option of either purchasing credits through a mitigation bank, purchasing credits from WVDEP’s In-Lieu Fee Program, or conducting permittee-responsible mitigation.
